About AWA

The Association of Wisconsin Artists (AWA), formerly named WRAA, is a non-profit membership organization begun in 1954. Our mission is to inspire, educate and promote artists and their communities.  We do so by promoting art programs, workshops, and providing recognition for our members.

AWA has always supported the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP), which encourages the creative growth of non-professional artists. In 2020, AWA took on management of WRAP entirely. WRAP-Kids, WRAP-Teens, Tiny Treasures, and enhanced publications were added after 2004.

AWA Board of Directors Manual

The Association of Wisconsin Artists is governed by a board of twelve directors elected from and by the membership. These are volunteer positions with the only compensation being mileage and lodging to the spring and fall board meetings. Each board member is active in their duties, whether being an officer or leading one of the many exciting projects that AWA sponsors. Elected terms are for three years each, with four positions elected each year.
